Are You Successful?

SUCCESS…

It’s a word we all throw around and chase, yet few ever stop long enough to define it…much less live it. In the words of John Maxwell… “You cannot achieve what you have not defined"

So, let’s talk about it… What does success look like for you?

  • Is it a zip code you live in?

  • A number in a bank account?

  • A position on an org chart?

  • A car in the driveway?

  • A feeling you’re chasing?

What if I told you success isn’t any of those things? They might be desires and dreams, but they’re not the definition of success. Don’t confuse the results of success with the pursuit of success. Success is an unending journey in a specific direction that everything in your life is moving toward. It’s a combination of purpose, potential, and reward that you and I have access to daily.

If success is just a destination, then what does that make the journey? Unsuccessful? Unimportant?

No, that would be a miserable way to live.

Success isn’t achieved someday; It starts today.

If you struggle to know what success looks like for you, let's start to define it:

Purpose

  • What makes you come alive?

  • What burden, dream, or passion keeps you up at night?

  • What do you feel called to do?

  • What gifting and talent do you have that can make something better?

Potential

  • What are you currently capable of?

  • What’s your capacity?

  • What more can you do to develop your gifting and talent?

  • What do you need to grow in today to take the next step tomorrow?

Reward

  • What fruit is your life producing?

  • Who is being impacted by what you do?

  • What’s being built, nurtured, or changed?

  • Are you building or doing something that will live past you?

Take time to define success for you. Then, take it to your family, your friends, and your teams. If you don’t define success, you’ll find yourself frustrated helping someone else achieve theirs. You’re allowed to be successful today.

Success is an unending journey in a specific direction that everything in your life is moving toward.

So, where are you heading?
